Promises
Hi sweetie friends,
This month has been so full, but full of joy and love! One of my favorite things from this month is the trip I took with my church family for a pastors and church leadership conference at Mercy Culture Church. We all had beautiful encounters with God, but what I want to tell you guys about is one of the most impactful teachings I heard about “knocking on doors.” This means to knock on the door of revelation that Jesus is on for that day in a worship set, a prayer or intercession time, your personal time with Him, etc. Practically what this can looks like is if you are reading a scripture and one part of the passage you are reading jumps off the page at you, you would reread, pray, declare, and/or sing (knocking) that scripture (the door) until God reveals the next part of the revelation He’s wanting to give you. When He reveals the next part of the revelation you are walking through the door you were knocking on and finding the next door of revelation. I see it like pieces of a puzzle, at each door you are getting another piece of the puzzle to seeing the picture of what Jesus is wanting to show you. I’ll give an example of this from one of my daily encounters with God:
First, I saw a vision of a straight and narrow path in front of me and there was brush and overgrown grass all around the path that I started to push away. I know that the path represents the ways of God and Holy Spirit reminded me of Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the path is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the path is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Next Holy Spirit took me to John 10:9 where Jesus says, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” Then I remembered I had a dream about a year and a half ago where a man whose name meant “the straight, narrow path” was showing me the storm clouds that were coming before I got on a plane to go overseas to Zambia. I was outside and ran to a pavillion to keep my wallet that had my ID and passport safe from the storm. When I woke up I had asked God what He was speaking and what I believe He told me was “you will be in a really fun season before going to Africa and there will be new buds forming in your family, but intense spiritual warfare will be around the corner to try to knock you out before going to Africa. Study the Gospels and Romans.”
In this encounter I knew this dream was also for me right now in these 2 months before I go back to Zambia. I know that He has a lot more to reveal to me about this straight and narrow path He gave me a vision about, but I know that right now that I am called to obey His words in studying the Gospels and Romans to protect my identity in Chirst from the attacks of the enemy. So if you’re reading this I would love for you to partner with me in prayer on this!
Scripture: “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” John 14:20-21
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for your desire to manifest yourself to us. Thank you that you lay out so clearly what is required of us to encounter you, that we just get to keep your commandments to show our love for you. I pray that whoever reads this would go away with you and encounter you deeply in the secret place. That you would bring revelation, healing, and deliverance to the spaces and time that has been set apart for you, God. Would we give you our first fruits in ever area, that we would never withold anything from you. Teach us to yield to you, Holy Spirit. We love you and in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
